Historical Overview
Early Inhabitants
Before the arrival of Spanish expeditions in 1778, the Santa Clara Valley was inhabited by the Tamien nation of Ohlone people for over 6,000 years. These indigenous communities lived in a hunter-gatherer society, deeply connected to the land.
